General Framework and Regulatory Compliance

Blocall implements data processing operations in strict compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The principles of data minimization, proportionality, purpose limitation and security apply to all processing activities.

No personal data is sold, rented, transferred or used for advertising purposes.

Data Controller

The data controller is Blocall.

No Data Protection Officer (DPO) has been appointed, as such appointment is not mandatory in light of the nature, scope and purposes of the processing carried out.

Legal Bases for Processing

The processing carried out by Blocall is based on the following legal grounds:

  • the user’s consent, in particular for reports and certain optional features,
  • the performance of a contract for the management of professional licenses and, where applicable, voluntary donations,
  • Blocall’s legitimate interest in ensuring service security, preventing abuse, and maintaining technical stability.

These legal bases are defined in accordance with Article 6 of the GDPR.

Processed Data and Explicit Exclusions

Blocall does not transmit the address book, call content, SMS content, GPS location, advertising identifier, or the user’s phone number. When optional statistics are enabled, Blocall may process technical events related to calls analyzed or blocked, without transmitting the caller’s number. These events may include the event date, the applied decision, the blocking type, the category, the associated country and technical indicators.

Optional Statistics

When the user enables the statistics option, Blocall may transmit technical and usage data to improve service reliability, measure protection effectiveness and detect technical issues. These data may include:

  • a pseudonymous technical identifier;
  • the app and operating system version;
  • the device manufacturer and model;
  • the app language and theme;
  • the status of certain permissions required for operation;
  • general information about the network used;
  • general information about the SIM card, such as country, slot and eSIM or physical type;
  • usage counters;
  • statistical events related to calls analyzed or blocked, without transmitting the caller’s phone number.

These statistics are not used for advertising purposes, sold, or shared with third parties for commercial purposes. The user can disable this option at any time from the app settings.

Technical Identifier (UUID)

A UUID is generated randomly when the application is first launched.

It is not linked to the user’s civil identity, their device, or their phone number.

It is the only technical means enabling the identification of certain processing activities and the effective exercise of rights.

Reports, Responsibility and Moderation

Reports are made voluntarily by the user and are associated with the UUID.

They may be subject to human moderation after the fact to prevent abuse.

Deletion or correction of a report is possible upon request, subject to providing the corresponding UUID.

Without this identifier, Blocall may be technically unable to identify the data concerned.

Security, Abuse Prevention and Traceability

Blocall implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure the security, integrity and availability of the service.

Limited technical logs (IP address, timestamps, security indicators) may be retained exclusively for abuse prevention, incident detection and service protection.

These processing activities are strictly proportionate and do not involve profiling or automated decision-making producing legal effects.

Data retention periods

  • Reports: up to 24 months.
  • Technical security logs: up to 24 months.
  • Data related to professional licenses and, where applicable, donations: 24 months after the last use.

No individual search history is retained.

For strictly statistical purposes and to improve the service, Blocall may process aggregated data related to searches (for example, overall volumes or the most searched numbers), with no link to any user, device, or identifier.

Processors and contractual safeguards

Blocall may rely on technical processors strictly necessary for hosting, security, authentication, the management of professional licenses, and the proper operation of the service.

Certain functional segmentation data (for example, private or professional usage status) may be transmitted to technical service providers only to the extent necessary for managing professional licenses and operating the service.

These processors act solely on Blocall’s instructions and are subject to strict contractual obligations regarding confidentiality, security, and compliance with the GDPR.

Location of Processing

Processing is carried out primarily within the European Union.

In the strictly exceptional event that processing involves a provider located outside the European Union, Blocall implements the appropriate safeguards required by the GDPR.

User Rights

In accordance with the GDPR, the user has the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection.

The exercise of certain rights may require providing the UUID in order to enable technical identification of the data.

Any request may be sent to: support@blocall.com.

The user may lodge a complaint with the CNIL.
